Peter O'Connor

Peter O’Connor, 83, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at Sheridan Medical Complex with his loving family by his side. Born on June 27, 1927, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Peter and Celia (Tippman) O’Connor. He served in the United States Coast Guard. He worked as a meat cutter for over 40 years. He was employed by Jewel Foods for over 20 years, until his retirement. On June 14, 1952, he married Edith Goldberg at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington, WI. Peter was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Snap-on’s Male Choir and St. Mark’s Parish Choir. He enjoyed yard work. He was active as an AA counselor. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. He loved his grandchildren and playing putt-putt with them. He is survived by his wife, Edith of Kenosha; his five children, Julie (Scott) Thompson of Durango, CO, Susan (Tom) Nelson of Monroe, WI, Amy (Tim) Holtzman of Minneapolis, MN, Peter S. O’Connor of Kenosha, and Mary (Brian) Dunham of Memphis, TN; and nine grandchildren, Kate Thompson, Andrew Nelson, Elizabeth Nelson, Carolyn Nelson, Nick Holtzman, Maureen Holtzman, Kellen Holtzman, Hallie Dunham, and Jake Dunham. Peter was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, George Swartz, Louise Markert, Lorraine Paulsen, and Virginia Euting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 15th, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
