Esther L. Wende, 59, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie following a battle with liver cancer. On December 29, 1970, she married Michael G. Wende in Ridgeland, SC. Esther enjoyed doing crafts, especially counted cross-stitch and quilting. Survivors include her husband, Michael of Kenosha; two children, Andrea (John) Adams of San Tan Valley, AZ, and Jason (Tonia) Wende of Kenosha; a brother, Robert (Incha) Beard of Allen, TX; and her four grandchildren, Ian, Jonathan, Mason and Kraig. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 10th, at First Presbyterian Church, 1803-83rd Street, at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hospice Alliance would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Esther’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Dear Mike, Becky and I were very sad to hear of Esther's passing. You will be happy to know that part of her is still alive at our house. Nora, now 4.5, still sleeps with the flannel blanket that Esther made for her when she was born. It is ragged and fraying, but Nora won't give it up. She loves it. Every night before bed she asks for it and every morning she comes downstairs carrying her "pink blankie." We're thinking of you! Love, Dave and Becky

Dear Mike and Family, I was deeply saddened to hear of Esther's passing. She was a wonderful person, always with a smile, and she will be dearly missed. I really can't thank her and the family enough for all of the efforts made on behalf of the Illinois Railway Museum and the Vintage Transport Extravaganza in particular. In the good old days at the Railway Museum when everything was pretty much sweetness and light, we had many good moments and laughs together. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Esther. God bless her memory.Sincerely, Jeff Wien

Mike, Andrea and Jason,You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I know that Esther will be greatly missed. I am grateful to have known her and she was a great help to me as I struggled to learn the ropes of a military life. She inspired me to always look for a younger military wife at the next PCS to help along. Your Esther made a difference in my life and I will remember her fondly.
