Peter Anthony Volpendesta, 85, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at Brookside Care Center on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Born in Kenosha on September 24, 1925, he was the son of the late Michael and Carmella (Muto) Volpendesta. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and attended the local schools. He served as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army during World War II from September 17, 1945, until his honorable discharge on March 19, 1947. On October 21, 1950, he married Aurora Mazzie in Racine. Peter was employed by AMC for over 45 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the Italian American Society, the UAW Local 72 Retirees, the VFW Post 1865, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed playing cards and gambling in his free time. People referred to him as "Silver Fox". He is survived by his wife, Aurora of Kenosha; his three children, Marlene (Jimmie) Rosko of Racine, Mark (Darci Hubbard) of Houston, TX, and Carmella (Carl) Ricchio of Kenosha; six grandchildren, Ashlee (Eric) Nelson, Felicia Lucas, Lauren Volpendesta, Joseph (Chrissy) Ricchio, Anthony (Laura) Ricchio, and Peter (Michelle) Ricchio; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Gina Marie Rosko; a sister, Jennie Gennaccaro; a brother, Bennie Volpendesta; one niece, Carmella Volpendesta; and two nephews, Michael Volpendesta and Johnny Gennaccaro. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church on Saturday, February 26th, at 11:00 a.m. Entombment with full military honors will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
