1944 ∼ 2011

Joanne Wolf
Joanne Wolf, 66, of Pleasant Prairie, quietly traveled on to her next adventure after a year long standoff with cancer. Born December 20, 1944, and raised in Kenosha, the daughter of the late George and Charlotte (Truskowski) Grochowski. Joanne attended local schools and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School in 1963. She married Gerald (Jerry) Wolf in November of 1964. They ran Smith Printing Co. until her husband’s death in 1999. After her retirement, she followed her interest in archeology with her beloved best friend and companion Peter Braun. Together they explored Peruvian pyramids and ancient maritime Atlantic Viking sites in Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2008 they volunteered for the National Parks in Utah, hiking to and camping at canyon cliff dwellings and petroglyph sites on their days off. Joanne was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and the Girl Scout Alumni. Surviving are a daughter, Julie (Jeff) Curi of Henderson, NV; her grandchildren, Chase and Colin; a sister, Catherine Grochowski of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she considered her adopted children. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald in 1999; a daughter, Brenda in 1983; a brother, George Jr. in 1954; and a sister, Mary Grochowski Ostermeyer in 2008. A brief service will be held on Saturday, February 12th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Private interment will be at St. James Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday at Proko Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service. Dear Julie, Jeff and Family,It was a pleasure visiting with you, Julie, and your mother at Nathan and Meghan's baby shower for Blake one year ago. Though our visit was brief, I found your mom to be a woman of strength, hope and the "let's do it" spirit! As time passes into years, you will enjoy the legacy she left behind for you and in you. A memories of her flow forward, you'll become so aware of how she "gifted" you. Today and tomorrow, as you share, visit and remember her with family and friends, you'll find the mom you loved so much is still living in many hearts. We pray for your comfort and peace as you mourn her loss. Prayerfully, Brad and Diane Butzlaff
