Joan T. (Proulx) Smith, 81, of Kenosha, passed away with her family at her side on Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Aurora Medical Center. Born in Kenosha on May 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Mabel (DuCharme) Proulx. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade school, graduating in 1943, and was a 1947 graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. On May 5, 1951, she married Jack B. Smith at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Joan was an active Bridge player, an artistic painter, and enjoyed reading, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles, and tending her roses. Surviving are a son, Jerry (Debbie) Brucaya of Belleville, WI; four daughters, Patricia (Kevin) Zimany of Kenosha, Pamela (John) Weyrough of Menona, IA, Suzanne (Roy) Rodriguez of Kenosha, and Allison Smith of Madison, WI; eight grandchildren, Vanessa, Zia, Ethan, Alyssa, Samantha, Willa, Dayna and Zack; a brother, Kenneth Proulx of Kenosha; and a sister, Gloria Anger of Kenosha. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey Proulx. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15th, from Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
