Gary F. Haller, 73, of Kenosha, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. He was born on January 22, 1937, to Roy and Clara (Mattern) Haller. He attended local schools and graduated from Kenosha High School. He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as a Medical Material Specialist from 1955 to his honorable discharge in December 1958. He was employed by American Motors in Kenosha as the manager of military sales from 1961-1970. In 1970 he fell in love with Kathleen Wienke and they were married on July 2, 1971. He was transferred to American Motors in Detroit in 1970 where he was supervisor of military sales. From 1975-1976 he was manager of military and fleet sales in Southfield, MI. In August 1977 he returned to Kenosha where he remained with American Motors until he retired in 1985 after more than 30 years. After retirement he kept working for Nudi, Mauro, Palco, and Dave’s Muffler. As a child Gary’s family took yearly vacations to St. Germain. He loved hunting, fishing and being up north. An avid fisherman, he looked forward to the white bass run in Fremont. He was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, the Wisconsin Scottish Rite, and the Masonic Lodge #47. Five years ago he added a deck to the back of their house so he could enjoy watching the birds and shooting the pesky squirrels that tried to steal his bird food. He sure loved those Yellow Finches. Surviving Gary are his wife, Kathy; three sons, Brett (Lisa) Haller, Erin (Heather) Haller and Daniel (Racheal) Haller; two daughters, Georgia (Eric) Phillips and Megan Burgess; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and many wonderful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Roy Haller, and one daughter, Christie. A memorial service for Gary will be held on Friday, January 14th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Shriners Children’s Hospital or the Shalom Center would be greatly appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Gary’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Kathy, My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I grew up with Roy, Clara and Gary just four houses up the street. They were wonderful folks to know and remained friends of my family for life. I remember visiting them after they moved to State Line Road off Sheridan Road, while the men went hunting in the fields behind their house. Then you, my high school classmate, and Gary became a family and another link between us was formed. I hope that memories of all the years you had together may comfort you during this sad time. My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
