Stella Salerno
Stella Salerno, 88, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center. Born in Kenosha on February 5, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Steven and Veronica (Kotowski) Burzynski. Stella was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and attended local schools. On August 3, 1946, she married Orlando "Duck" Salerno at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1994. A member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was a very good cook, especially her pastries. Stella loved taking care of her family. Surviving are her three children, Roland Salerno of Kenosha, Veronica (Joe) Ventura of Kokomo, IN, and Joseph (Claire) Salerno of Rochester, MN; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Eddie Burzynski; and two sisters, Joanne Curi and Bess Emery. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:15 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
