Todd Smolinski

1967 ∼ 2010

Todd Michael Smolinski passed into the arms of his loving Savior on December 20, 2010, following open heart surgery at the Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI. Todd was born on March 25, 1967, in Kenosha and attended local schools graduating from Tremper High School in 1985 where he excelled as a student as well as in leadership. He had an even greater passion for his family and enjoyed twice yearly vacations with them in their favorite place, Door County. He loved to play, laugh, and watch cartoons with his three nephews, Andrew, Michael, and Luke. Todd will be incredibly missed by all: his loving wife, Carrie, for all the ways he demonstrated his constant love and devotion to her; his little dog, Champ, whom he loved to dote upon; his parents, Mike and Sue, for being the best loving, caring, considerate, and praying son any parents could ever have; his sister, Beth and brother-in-law John, for his strong love for them, always telling them what wonderful boys they have; his nephews who never wanted to start vacation activities or holiday celebrations until Uncle Todd and Aunt Carrie arrived; his in-laws, Tom and Chris Petri, Alison and Tom, for his wonderful integrity, respectfulness, and love for them; his Aunt Ruth and Uncle Wes for the joy of seeing him grow from boyhood to manhood, yet remaining extremely devoted to family and God. Todd will be deeply missed by his wife, Carrie and twins who are to be born in June of 2011; his parents, Mike and Sue Smolinski; his sister, Beth (John) Romero and nephews, Andrew, Michael, and Luke Romero; his in-laws, Tom and Chris Petri of Green Bay, WI; his sister-in-law, Alison (Nick) Selk and niece, Ellanor of De Pere, WI; his brother-in-law, Tom Petri and nephew Calvin and niece, Mira of South Milwaukee; his aunt and uncle, Ruth and Wes Riutta of Kenosha and aunt, Sandra Thomas of California. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Smolinski:I learned through my mom, Kathy Liebe, that your awesome son has gone to be with the Lord. I am grieved for your loss, but so very grateful that Todd stayed on the course that you helped set for him and that he is with the Lord. I was so inspired by you both when you helped lead the youth at Kenosha First Assembly; you were always so warm and kind, and kept me feeling less awkward in those very uncomfortable teen years. I've often thought of you and your service work with the youth, and hold a great deal of admiration and regard for you. I'm sure you were in that youth group in part to model to Todd and Beth how to serve God with their whole hearts - and from what I see on this website Todd carried your example forward magnificently Please take some little comfort in knowing that your excellent example transmuted not just to Todd, but also to many others. While I am yet here, I will continue to serve Him with my whole heart and look forward to seeing Todd again soon in paradise.

I was one of Todd's high school math teachers at Tremper and I noticed with shock his passsing as he is only slightly older than my oldest child. I am out of town and noticed the obituary on the online edition of the Kenosha News. Although I don't think I have seen Todd since high school, I am still shocked and saddened. My most sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Smolinski and children and to Todd's parents. My God be with you at this hour of sadness.Charles Short
