1927 ∼ 2010

Herbert Feifer
Herbert G. Feifer, age 83, of Kenosha, passed away on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2010, at home with his family by his side. Born in Kenosha on August 3, 1927, he was the son of the late Gustav and Erika (Brunhober) Feifer. Herb was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and was educated at Friedens Lutheran School and Bradford High School, where he played varsity football. He then enlisted in the US Coast Guard. Herb attended the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee and the Whitney School of Art, in New Haven, CT, graduating with a diploma in Commercial Art. Early on he met the love of his life, Joyce Beverly Zuidweg. They were married on June 30, 1950, at Friedens. He was blessed with three wonderful children Mike, Jan and Leigh and he devoted his life to God, family, country and nature. Herb was an inventor/artist/painter and had many vocations as an illustrator, bricklayer and an annealer at Anaconda American Brass. He was a very happy retiree. He was an innovator and recycled common items into creative art. Herb loved to travel, was a talented model maker and an excellent “chuck wagon cook”. It made him happy to sketch and create practical and quirky items to make life better. Herb enjoyed spending time with family and friends, gardening and knotting. He liked music especially The Norman Luboff Choir, Gordon Mac Rae, Mario Lanza and the sentiments of “Man of LaMancha”. Herb was very knowledgeable and enjoyed spirited discussions on religious and military history and showed great respect for Native American culture. Surviving Herb is his wife, Joyce, son Michael Feifer of Kenosha, daughters Jan Sinclair (James) of Kenosha and Leigh Reisch of Mimbres, NM, granddaughter Megan Feifer of Baton Rouge, LA, and grandson John Sinclair of Madison, WI. He is also survived by nieces Karen English of Coal Valley, IL and Lynn Fox of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his sister Hildegard West and grandson, Eric Feifer. Herb was a good father, nurturer, and mentor/coach. He enthusiastically greeted life and everyone he met with “Hi, neighbor!” Special thanks to Dr. Kevin Fullin and the Doctors and staff at Kenosha Memorial Hospital, Dr. C. Hwang and staff at Joseph Andrea Cancer Center, Kenosha Visiting Nurse Association, Inc. and Hospice Alliance, Inc. Memorials to Hospice Alliance, Inc or Friedens Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
