Benjamin SANTOS
Benjamin R. Santos, 78, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2010, peacefully at his residence. Born in Manila, Philippines, on September 1, 1932, he was the son of the late Sergio and Nicanora (Reyes) Santos, Sr. On January 25, 1959, he married Mila Sioson Guzman in Manila, Philippines. Benjamin completed his bachelor degree in Business Administration at the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. Before immigrating in 1968 to the United States, Benjamin worked for the Manila City Treasurer’s office. Benjamin worked for Snap-On and KAT (Kenosha Auto Transport) as an accountant. Benjamin was always a religious man. He was a Corsilian. He was a devout Catholic who always had others in mind. He would say prayers daily, not only for himself but for others. He loved to sing during Mass and also with Karaoke and the Pabasa. Cherished songs were De Colores and Kundiman, especially "Sa Lumang Simbahan." He often would be invited as a guest singer at weddings and anniversaries. Benjamin loved to play and watch sports. Bowling and golf were always his passion. He also loved to play tennis. Benjamin also loved to dance the traditional Filipino Folk dances and Ballroom dancing. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and Suki. Survivors include his wife, Mila; a son, Joel Santos; a daughter, Edna (Richard) Anderson; his granddaughters, Amy Louise (Will) Anderson, Erin Marie Anderson and Corie Lynn Anderson; his siblings, Benedicta Santos, Cristino Santos, Carmen Carino, Luz Aguilar, Rudolfo Santos and Norma Santos; special friends, Mario and Elvie Aldana, Edwin and Nida Martinez, Ivan and Arleen Siap, Steve and Ador Rodriguez, Paul and Jean Campen, and Sam and Didi Kruse ; and his favorite cousins, Renato and Nida Fermin. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Mariani, Dr. Manda, Dr. Stone, Dr. Buencamino, the staff at St. Catherine’s Hospital and Kenosha Memorial Hospital and Father Jerry and Karen Metallo for the wonderful care given to Benjamin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery.
