Eugenio A. "Gino" Schiaffino, 75, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2010, at St. Catherine's Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 18, 1934, in Genoa, Italy, he was the son of the late Alessandro and Maria (Mattiazzi) Schiaffino. He came to Kenosha in 1956 to make his home. Gino served in the United States Army from July 13, 1959, until his honorable discharge on July 12, 1961. He formerly worked at Warwick Manufacturing in Zion, IL; Bindelli Construction Co. in Kenosha and for 30 years at Outboard Marine Corp. in Waukegan, IL, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed woodcarving, model boat building, especially the Titanic, and working in the yard. Surviving are his wife, Catherine "Chi Chi" of Kenosha; three children, Eugene A. Schiaffino, Gilda (Roger) Smith and Joseph (Karen) Schiaffino; three step-children, Marie (Eddie) Tovo, Thomas Ceschin and Anthony (Linda) Ceschin; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 31st, at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a short eulogy at the end of the visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials to V.F.W.
