Antoinette A. “Toni” Sandberg, age 85, of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Golden Living Center. She was born in Kenosha on December 8, 1924, the daughter of the late Anthony and Ursula (Kabash) Jonik. Toni attended St. Peter’s Catholic School, Kenosha High and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine. On May 31, 1947, she married Edward G. Sandberg in Kenosha at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2006. She was employed by the Simmons Mattress Co. until 1947. Toni enjoyed going to plays, singing, taking trips to Milwaukee, Lake Geneva and Long Grove, IL. Most of all, she enjoyed raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a leader of both Boy and Girl Scout troops; a former member of the St. Casimir’s Choir and volunteered at the church festival. She also was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Seniors, Senior Action Council, St. Mary’s Lutheran Friendly Center and the Chumerette Club for fifty years. She also participated in the Kenosha Interparish Choir and was a former member of the Third Thursday Club. Surviving Toni are her four sons, Don T. (Darlene) Sandberg, David L. (Christina) Sandberg, Dann F. (Cyndi) Sandberg, and Douglas A. (Kathryn) Sandberg all of Wisconsin; a daughter, Donna (Timothy) Besch of Kenosha; daughter in-law, Vicky Glazer; twelve grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Dale E. Sandberg; and a sister, Ann Jonik. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23rd, at St. James Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
