James Edward MacRae

1938 ∼ 2010

James “Mac” Edward MacRae, 71, of Kenosha, passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Milwaukee on September 20, 1938, the son of the late William and Adriana (Heusdens) MacRae. Jim served in the U.S. Army as a medic and was honorably discharged in May 1960. He married the former Mary Ellen Krezinski on January 20, 1972, in Waukegan, IL. “Mac” was employed at U.S. Can Company for 29 years as a warehouseman retiring in 1998. Jim was one of the founding members of the Tri County Railroad Club and owner of the Iron Rails of Kenosha hobby store. Surviving Jim are his wife, Mary Ellen; three brothers, Dewey C. (Ruth) Sammons of Franklin, TN, Les Sammons of Kenosha, and Scott (Terri) Sammons of Draper, WI; two sisters, Mary Sammons of Kenosha and Laura (Ernie) Desotell of Racine, WI; and also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Dewey A. Sammons; and a sister, Janice Zimmerman. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, May 26th, at the Proko Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until time of the service at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately. Mary, I am so sorry to hear about James's passing, as will anyone else who knew him. Mac always had a good joke or a great story at the ready for anyone who visited him at the shop. He will be sorely missed.

I use to work with Jim at Contenetial Can on Chickory Road in Racine. I patronized his hobby shop. I always considered Jim a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May he rest in eternal peace.
