Jim, 62 of Kenosha, passed away on Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee. Born in Kenosha on August 1, 1947, he was the son of Thomas and Margaret (Strangberg) Fonk. Jim graduated from St. Joseph High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On April 17, 1971, he married the love of his life, Patricia “Patti” Pezdir in Kenosha. He was employed at Josephson & Thomey Hardware and in 1971 began working at the family business, PH&I Supply Co., where he later became co-owner, until his retirement in 2003. Jim endured a lifetime of serious medical problems with grace and dignity. He had an indomitable will to not only survive but enjoy life to its fullest. He enriched the lives of those around him as a loving husband, son and brother, a loyal friend and hard worker. He savored each day’s pleasures, was a gracious host and scientifically assembled the perfect golden manhattan. Jim enjoyed golfing in the Buratti’s Monday Night League, spending time at his Door County home, swimming at Jane Vernon, and taking road trips, especially to Hinkley, OH, for Buzzard Day and to see the Packers play. Survivors include his wife, Patti; his mother, Maggie; a sister, Patricia (Bob) Wise; and two brothers, Michael (Mary) Fonk and Joe Fonk. Jim was also loved by his sisters-in-law, Barbara Yoder, Susan Hageny and Carrie Kelly; and friends, Mary Bothe and Denise Derdeyn. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Fonk. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 20th, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorials in Jim’s honor to the National Kidney Foundation, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or Hawthorn Hollow would be appreciated by the family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Jim’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

I am really sorry to here about Jim death.I think the last time I saw him and Pat was in Milwaukee at the Moma Mia play. I do remember being a manager of the basketball team at St. Joe's with him. I remember the first car his dad brought for him was a big Buick. He had to have a pillow to sit on to see over the wheel. I just had another grandson and it reminds me we are all getting older. My memories of Jim will always be good ones. George Becker
