Gary L. RAUSCH

1945 ∼ 2010

Gary L. RAUSCH
Gary Lynn Rausch, 64, of Kenosha, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. He fought a courageous fight with cancer since 1992. Born in Kenosha on October 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Leo H. and Leona G. (Watkins) Rausch. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools. Gary served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He entered the service on January 29, 1965, and was honorably discharged on January 9, 1968. He served overseas in Germany and received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. On March 20, 1993, he married Denise M. Greno in Kenosha. He was formerly employed with American Motors Corp. for five years and more recently with J.I. Case for 28 years, retiring in 1995 due to his health. He was an active member of First Assembly of God where he loved singing to the Lord in the choir and was a weekly usher. He also enjoyed the musicals and the church where he was always one of the disciples and was involved in a lot of care groups and bible studies. During his trip with Paul Wilbur to Israel, he had the opportunity to be re-baptized in the Jordan River. His hobbies were bike racing that he did in the 1960’s on Tuesday nights at the Washington Velodrome, fishing with his best friend, Kelly Watring all the time up north, going to the shooting range and watching the Packers. The last five years he enjoyed his Hot Rod that he and his buddies would "scoop-the-loop" in downtown Kenosha. He entered a lot of Hot Rod shows where he received many awards and first place trophies. Survivors include his loving wife, Denise of Kenosha; twin stepsons, Dana Dean (Laurel) Gasser of Kenosha and Joseph Michael (Mande Harris) Gasser of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Douglas K. (Rita) Rausch of Kenosha; a niece, Amanda Rausch; a nephew, DJ Rausch; and his three golden retrievers, Synja Lynn, Octaviano "Tavie", and Vincenzo "Enzo", who were his babies and was so proud of them being therapy dogs to help other people. He was preceded in death by a brother at birth and a sister, Donna in infancy. Denise would like to thank Dr. Santarelli and his staff for all his love, support and his wonderful care; Dr. Fenske at Froedtert for all his great care, support and love; and also the staff at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus especially Dr. Bloom, Mary and Rachael for their great care and love, Dr. Fabian and Kristy for being with her at his end time, and all the great love, support and wonderful care you gave Gary and his family. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 10th, at First Assembly of God at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be held on Saturday at First Assembly of God from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Friends and family are asked to meet on Monday, April 12th, at Proko Funeral Home at 9:00 a.m. where we will begin a procession to Southern Wisconsin Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove for a committal service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Gary’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Denise,It was heartbreaking to hear about Gary's passing. What an incredible man he was and made a huge impact on me whenever I would see him bringing in one of his kids to see Maggie (the pups). Gary touched my heart as did you and his strength he had enduring all that he did was very inspiring. I love you and am praying for you! Much love and prayers to you in this difficult time!Ashley Leibforth
