Burt J Doty

1908 ∼ 2010

Burt J Doty
Burt John Doty1908-2010 After living an exemplary life for over a century, Burt John Doty passed away at home on March 10, 2010. He was born in Charleston, Illinois to Margaret Ferguson Doty and John William Doty on September 2, 1908. He moved to Kenosha in 1926, where he found employment as a machinist for Simmons Company. He married Millie (Nell) Gallo on June 4, 1932; they had three children: John, Richard, and Margaret. After Nell’s death in 1977, he married Jean Brady Beyer on November 8, 1980. They enjoyed the bond with her children: Nancy, Robert and Thomas. Jean passed away on February 7, 2004. Burt maintained his strong loving ties to his family, golfing buddies, friends, and “restaurant” families. His daily goal was to help someone. When he was no longer able to help a friend physically, he would lend his support in other ways. After his retirement, he developed a passion for the game of golf. He was famous for his quips and great sense of humor. One of the groundbreaking parishioners of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, he was blessed with the ability to share his love with all whom he knew and was thankful each and every day for God’s blessings (including his final caretakers, Anna and Sharon) and smiled until his demise. He leaves a family who love him very much: his children: John and Lois Doty, Richard and Jan Doty, Margaret and Jim Bittner, Nancy Olveda, Robert and Marti Beyer, Thomas and Nancy Beyer; his grandchildren: Donna Polcyn, Margaret Nelson, Carla Ward, David Doty, Paula Millar, Richelle Bradley, Monica Montag, James Wm Bittner, Mary Bittner, Greg Beyer, Chris Beyer, Amy Wright, and Scott Beyer; his great grandchildren: Sarah Sina, Ryan, Rebecca, and Michael Polcyn, Ali, Alex, and Anna Nelson, Erica Aaron and Megan Doty, Lily Bradley, Nathan and Jeremy Johnson, James Ward, Brian, Eric and Laura Millar, Alex and Zacchary Montag, Noah and Lucas Perez, and Jeffrey, Brooklyn and Anika Bittner; and his great great grandchildren: Madisyn and Callie Johnson and Alaina and Adam Sina. Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Catholic Church on Monday, March 15th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 14th at Proko Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and on Monday, March 15th at St. Anne’s Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family would appreciate memorials to St. Anne’s Catholic Church or Hospice Alliance. We just learned of Bert's death and want to send our condolences to his family. Bert was a VERY GOOD FRIEND to our father, Larry Munz. They played golf and checked in on each other every day until our father's death in 2008. We all knew Bert and thought he was one wonderfully fantastic guy. We thank him for taking care of our father. They were good buddies. May God bless Bert with peace.
