Constance M. “Connie” Klein, 87, of Kenosha, passed away at her residence on Thursday, January 14, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Powell, WY, on December 8, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Sermine and Casamira (Garcia) Perez. She came to Kenosha, with her family, as a small child to make their home. She was educated in local schools. She married John A. Klein on September 16, 1943, in Paris, TX. He preceded her in death June 1st, 1983. Connie was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Christian Women of St. Mark’s, Chairwoman of the Bereavement Committee of St. Mark’s for many years and the Kenosha Senior Center. She was also an avid artist, she took Tai Chi Classes, loved to make jewelry, travel and dance. Surviving are her four children, John L. Klein and Janet (Karl) Franz, both of Kenosha, Diane (Jerry) Leech of Carmel, IN, and Thomas (Melinda) Klein of San Marcos, CA; four grandchildren, Cheryl (Jim) Hillesheim, John A. Klein, Amanda Leech, and Audrey Leech; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 12 brothers and sisters, Joe, Peter and Henry Perez, Mary Uribe, Marjorie George, Maria Saldana, Antonia Marques, Aurora Perez, and four others in infancy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 18th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
