Betty Jane Allen, of Poplar Grove, IL, formerly of Kenosha, passed away on her 84th birthday, Monday, January 4, 2010. Born in Baraboo, WI, on January 4, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Lena (Griegol) Belter. On November 2, 1943, she married Eugene Allen in Dubuque, IA. He passed away on October 9, 1986. Betty was formerly employed by Warwick Electronics in Waukegan, IL, for 17 years. She then worked for the Kenosha Unified Schools for 10 years until her retirement. Surviving are her children, Gale Allen of Poplar Grove, IL, and Marilyn (Gene) Smith of Stuart, VA; four brothers and sisters, Virgil (Audrey) Belter of Janesville, WI, Ronald (Joy) Belter of Kenosha, WI, Duane (Lorene) Belter of North Freedom, WI, and Sharon (Donald) Bulgrin of Baraboo, WI; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin Belter; and three sisters, Dorothy Hill, Ardissie Ulrich and Marilynn Woodstock. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8th, at Proko Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Salem Mound Cemetery.
