Rita Mary Chovan, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully at Aurora Hospital and Medical Center on December 8, 2009, her 90th birthday, surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 8, 1919, in Pedace Perito, Prov. of Cosenza, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Filomena (Barca) Marano. In 1930 she came to Kenosha to make her home. For 30 years Rita worked as an Inspector for American Motors, retiring in 1982. On September 13, 1947, she married Emil Chovan at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church; he preceded her in death in 1985. Rita was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, the Italian American Ladies Auxiliary and the UAW. Rita is survived by two daughters, Marie G. (Mark) Golanowski of Cedarburg, WI, and Judy A. (Ron) Sebetic of Kenosha; a sister, Mary R. Storz of Kenosha; a brother, Frank Marano, Jr. of Kenosha; her six grandchildren, Andrew Golanowski, Brian (Lissa) Golanowski, Jennifer Golanowski, Courtney (Dan) Kuehn, Peter Sebetic, and Lindsey Sebetic; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Tenley Kuehn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emil; parents, Frank and Filomena Marano; brother, Sebastian Marano; brother-in-law, Fred Storz; and sister-in-law, Harriet (Scottie) Marano. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12th, at Proko Funeral Home at 12:00 Noon. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
