John Saliture
John Saliture, 95, formerly of Kenosha, late of Tucson, AZ, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 26, surrounded by his loving family. Born January 13, 1914 in Rende, Provence of Cosenza, Italy, the son of the late Frank and Angela (Pencente) Salituro. Moving to Kenosha in 1934 where he resided until moving to Arizona in 1993 to make his home. On September 9, 1939 he married Josephine R. Virciglio at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Kenosha. He was involved in fruit and vegetable sales from 1937 until 1960. He than owned and operated the Public Fruit Market on 14th Ave and 67th St. from 1947-1951. From 1958-1960 he owned Johnny’s Fruit Market on 60th Ave. and 75th St. and later the Country Inn Bar from 1960-1962. He was employed by American Motors Corporation from 1960 until his retirement in 1977. A former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, AMC Retirees, UAW Local 72, AMC Credit Union, Italian American Society, and the Bocce Club in Kenosha and Tucson, AZ. He was also a member of St. Francis Church in Tuscon. surviving are his wife, Josephine, of Tucson, AZ; two sons, Frank A. Saliture of Kenosha, Rick J. (Jane) Saliture of Sun Prairie, WI; two daughters, Donna Perrone and Angela (Tony) Russo both of Tuscon, AZ; one brother, Tony Salituro of Kenosha; one sister, Carmella Cosenza of Chicago, IL; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. John was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Rose Cacciatore; and one step-brother, Eugene Novelle. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 7th at 10:30 a.m. from Proko Funeral Home. Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at Proko Funeral Home.
