Debra Ann Seeton, 57, of Kenosha, WI, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, when she lost her short battle with Cancer of Unknown Origin. Debra was born the daughter of William and Ann (Pichman) Seeton in Chicago, IL, on August 6, 1952, and remained there until the age of 17. She then moved to Portage, MI, in 1969, Fond du Lac, WI, in 1975, Yorkville, IL, in 1989, and finally to Kenosha in 1993. Growing up, her love for helping people and value of education led her to a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1975 from Western Michigan University. Eventually she obtained a Masters of Health and Administration from St. Francis University in Joliet, IL. Debra met her husband, Lennie Long, at a Cub Scout function in Portage, MI, where they dated for 3 ½ years before they were married on May 24, 1975, in Centreville, MI. Debra considered her life’s greatest achievements to be her marriage and the raising of their three children, Kyle, Quincy, and Alexis. Debra worked in nursing homes and occupational facilities throughout the Midwest. Most recently, she was employed as an Occupational Therapist for the Woodland School District in Gurnee, IL. She was a member of the National Association of Occupational Therapists and St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. When Debra was a Girl Scout, she earned the prestigious Gold Award. Later she held leadership roles in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Her hobbies included oil painting, watercolors, arts and crafts, and reading. Debra was preceded in death by her father, Bill Seeton, and her nephew, William Burrel Seeton. Surviving Debra is her loving husband of 34 years, Leonard Long, and their three children, Quincy Long (and his fiancée Mandy Musch) of Madison, Kyle Long of Kenosha, and Alexis Long of Minneapolis; her mother, Ann Seeton of St. Petersburg, FL; her brothers, David (Ethel) Seeton of Fairplay, SC, and Dennis (Edie) Seeton of Wesley Chapel, FL; and her sister, Denise (George) Harrison of St. Petersburg, FL. The funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 5th, at St. Mary's Lutheran Church in Kenosha. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and the service at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.
