Louise Helen Markert

Louise H. Markert, 95, of Pleasant Prairie, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 15, 2009, at her residence. Born in Kenosha on January 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Celia (Tippman) Swartz. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she attended St. Thomas Aquinas School and a 1932 graduate of Kenosha High School. For 33 years Louise was Deputy Registrar for the Kenosha County Health Department, retiring in 1979. Louise was a former member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, charter member of St. Catherine’s Hospital Auxiliary, a volunteer at Kenosha Memorial Hospital and the Kenosha Historical Museum. Surviving are a daughter, Judy (Ken) Barnett of Bloomington, MN; one granddaughter, Jill Koplen; and a half-brother, Peter O’Connor of Kenosha. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Swartz; mother, Celia O’Connor; step-father, Peter O’Connor; a brother, George Swartz; a step-sister, Virginia (O’Connor) Euting; and a half-sister, Lorraine Paulson.
