Condolences

Jean (Hollingshead) Vandeville July 22, 2009
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Mrs. Schumacher was my counselor at McKinely Jr. High in the late 70's. We spent a lot of time together talking about school and listening to stories about my dad (John Hollingshead). It was some of my best memories of junior high. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Jean

Dear Bill & family: Any stranger reading Mary's obituary would quickly conclude that she was a busy lady. She was was a great deal more---a steady force for good in the community. Over the years, she and a handful of other Kenoshans, mostly women, pushed hard for many positive causes. One project that stands out was the long, difficult path to a new UW Extension Center and its successor, UW-Parkside. Please accept our sympathy for your personal loss. We shall remember her friendly manner and her valuable contributions to the character of our community.

I was privileged to have this wonderful lady as a teacher at McKinley Junior High School. A short time later, Bill became my ROTC instructor at Mary D Bradford High School. Through the many years to follow, I have lost contact with this great couple but want to testify to the fact that they had a profound positive influence in my life. For Mary, "Well done, good and faithful service. My deepest condolences to Bill.

It is with deepest sympathy I write this note to Mary's wonderful family. I had the pleasure to meet Mary at Brookside, where my father is also a resident, in fact he was right across the hall from her. Whether it was in the little gift shop were she volunteered or a quick hello in her room, it was always such a pleasure to say hello and have some wonderful conversations with her. I often thought how very lucky her children were to have such a wonderful mom. She was certainly an inspiration. I pray for her family a gentle peace to embrace them, knowing what a beautiful job they did in caring for this amazing woman. God bless.....Patti Evans

Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, and your mom is in the company of some of our favorite people! May God hold you all close at this time.

I was greatly blessed to know this fine lady. She along with Uncle Bill taught me how important education is in a life. I tried to use the example that they set when raising my own family. One of the fondest memories I have is when they visited Kenny and I in Deer Trail and brought us a box of books for our kids. Then I offered to cook a supper and Aunt Mary would not allow it. She wanted to treat us to supper out because we didn't get to do that often. I want to offer my heartfelt condolences to Uncle Bill and my cousins. God be with you all in this time of grief. I love and miss you all.
