Patrick S. Fonte

1938 ∼ 2009

Patrick S. Fonte
Patrick S. "Pasquale" Fonte, 71, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, May 27th, 2009, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. Born in Kenosha on April 16, 1938, he was the son of the late Frank S. and Elizabeth (Pugliese) Fonte. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School, Layton School of Art in Milwaukee and the Chicago Art Institute. On December 28, 1968, he married Margaret G. Stuck at Emanuel Baptist Church in Zion, IL. She passed away December 29, 2003. He was in the United States Army 32nd National Guard Division, during the Berlin Crisis, and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in the state of Washington. During that time, he was a cook and on many occasions, he called his mother asking for recipes for her wonderful Italian food. In particular, one Easter, he decided to make ravioli, so he called Mama Fonte, got the recipe and made ravioli for the guys; hundreds of them! Patrick had been Director of Advertising at G. LeBlanc Corp. for 10 years, and for the past 30 years he was the owner and operator of Spectrum Advertising. He attended Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. In addition to his talents in sketching, painting and graphic arts, Patrick always said that he wanted to be a comedian but everyone laughed at him. He had jokes for every occasion, funny or otherwise. Patrick enjoyed many a good time with family and friends, and he loved a good party. He proudly drove his Cadillac and Mustang convertibles with the tops down so his hair could blow in the wind. Patrick experienced many joys in his life: appreciating music of all kinds, quoting lines from the old movies he watched, cooking (and eating) good food, traveling to Door County, going “junking” at Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul, sitting in front of his house to watch the fireworks and parade, and being “Dad” to many cats, both his own and the neighborhood strays. Still, he was never quite the same good-natured man after his beloved wife Margaret passed away. Surviving are his four siblings, Victoria Palmer of Phillips, WI, Frank (Joan) Fonte of Las Vegas, NV, Betty (Clyde) Johnson of Kenosha, and Thomas Fonte of Redondo Beach, CA; special cousins, Tom (Lucy) Fonte of Kenosha; eight nieces and nephews, Leonard Palmer, Laurel (Arthur) DeCesaro, Lynne (Mario) Morrone, David (Darryl Varner) Palmer, Michael (Ginny) Palmer, Mary (Matthew Fontenot) Hansen, Richard (Jan) Ruffalo, and Lisa (Daniel) Fink; 18 great-nieces and great-nephews; and also by several other special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Antonio, and a sister, Sylvia Fonte. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 1st, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Patrick's Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

Pat was one of my favorite people in High School and he was so clever and amusing that to this day some fifty five years later I recall vividly some of the funny things he said and did. After school one day at J.C. Penny's the saleslady asked if there was anything she could do for him, he said, "yes, could you scratch my back I have an itch." My heartfelt sympathy goes to the family and Pat's strong spirit will always live with those who knew and loved him.

My brother and I want to send you our deepest condolences for the passing of Pat. We moved to S. California some 40 years ago but whenever we went back to visit we always stopped by to say hello to Pat. We shared many good times together. My cousin in Kenosha informed me of Pat's death and I found his obituary on the Kenosha News web site. When Pat made those raviolis for the company at Fort Lewis during the Berlin crisis Frank Kuzmich, myself and a few others helped Pat make the hundreds. We allocated about four good size ones for each person and many came back for seconds. So sorry for your loss. Don Patitucci
