Robert Goodwin Smith

1938 ∼ 2009

Robert Goodwin Smith
Robert Goodwin Smith, "Bob" as all his friends and family called him, passed away on Sunday, May 17th, 2009, at the age of 70, peacefully at home. He was born on July 8, 1938, in Kenosha, WI, to the late John and Jean (Goodwin) Smith. He was educated in Kenosha and graduated from Mary D. Bradford High School. On May 7, 1969, he married MaryAnn Tully. They later divorced, yet she remained the love of his life. He worked at Snap-On and Macwhyte in Management before going into business for himself. He owned and operated various furniture stores in Racine, but his pride and joy was Decorators Gallery Furniture Store in Sturtevant, WI, which he built mostly with his own two hands. Bob loved his 1960 Ford Sunliner, in which he attended shows and won many first place trophies that he was very proud of. He also loved to travel, getting together with his friends, but most of all he loved his family. Bob is survived by his ex-wife, MaryAnn Tully-Smith; his daughter, Debra Smith-Ricchio (Romano); and the two apples of his eye, his granddaughters, Danielle and Breanna Ricchio. He is also survived by cousins, nephews, nieces, and a lot of good friends. He was preceded in death by his loving and adored daughter, Susan Smith-Delaney; his brother, Barclay Smith; and his parents, John and Jean Smith. Visitation for Bob will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21st, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated to use towards his two loving granddaughter’s college funds.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Bob’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

You have always been there for me, ever since I was a stupid 15 yr old kid, but you saw something in me that others may have not, You took me and molded me in what you thought I should be, You dressed me and taught me how to be a man, You gave me opportunities normally reserved for the elite, you never once questioned my abilities just encouraged me day after day. when times were tough you taught me to keep my head high, you never ever left me and I will never ever leave you or any of your family, I am so mad you left without me properly saying goodbye, so I can only ask God to please convey my deepest heart felt thoughts to you, I truely love you, Your one and only adopted son Bryan

To Nephew Jim and the rest of the family I am so sorry for your loss. I had the opportunity to spend some limited time with "Uncle Bob" and sincerely enjoyed his company - I thought he was just awesome! I am sure all who knew him will miss him greatly. God Bless.

Dear Debbie, Mary Ann and family,I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. He is a person that I have known my entire life and have many memories of him/you spending time with our family throughout my childhood. I remember when he opened Mr. Furniture and Decorator's Gallery. Of course, as an adult, Bob and I periodically touched based usually talking about the "business" or family. It saddens me to hear of his sudden passing yet I find peace in knowing that he never had to suffer. As a person who has had to endure similar struggles, I will pray that you find peace in the upcoming months.Lisa (Chulew) Barrett on behalf of our family
