John N. MARTINO
John N. "Neto" Martino, 95, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009, at Regent Manor. Born on May 13, 1914, in Wausau, WI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Martino. He came to Kenosha as a young child and was educated in local schools. In 1937 he moved to Milwaukee and returned to Kenosha in 1945. On November 16, 1935, he married Angeline Barocco at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2003. John owned and operated the Martino’s Rite Way Cleaners from 1945 until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a former member of the Elk’s Club, Chamber of Commerce, Northside Business Men’s Association, International Fabricare Institute, AARP, Senior Citizen Action Committee, and the Senior Center. In his younger years he enjoyed outdoor activities especially snowmobiling, swimming, fishing and working around his house and yard. He had great communication skills; he always came alive when talking to people. John was also a computer buff, he spent much time at his computer sending e-mails, surfing the internet for news, information and entertainment. He scanned photos, burned CD’s, played games and enjoyed writing and sharing information. He stayed in frequent contact with all his family and friends by computer. Over the last 6 years he played 7000 checker games via computer-webcam with his son Joe who lives in the Detroit area. Survivors include two sons, Daniel (Phyllis) Martino of Paddock Lake and Joseph (Julie) Martino of Hartland, MI; two daughters, Catherine (Joe) Perse of Libertyville, IL, and Annette (Gary) Jennrich of Cary, IL; a son-in-law, Donald Flesia of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Flesia; a granddaughter, Dana Martino Spencer; a brother, Jacob Martino; and three sisters, Mary Crosetto, Catherine Flesia, and Margaret Baietto. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18th, from the Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum.
