Bennie J. Covelli, 90, of Kenosha, passed away on Wednesday, March 11th, 2009, quietly at his residence, surrounded by his family. Born in Kenosha on February 20, 1919, he was the son of the late Achille and Rose (Conti) Covelli. He was a life long resident of Kenosha, attending Frank Elementary, McKinley Jr. High and Kenosha High School, where he was active in school sports, playing football and basketball. On August 17, 1939, he married Julia Costanzo at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church. They celebrated 68 years of marriage this past August of 2008. Bennie retired from American Motors. He previously worked at Simmons Company, and co-owned Tee’s Service Station with his brother, Tony Marrone. A lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Bennie was a member of the Italian American Men’s Society, was an avid bowler and sports player, especially baseball, and later in life was a Bocce Team Player. He was an ardent Chicago Bears Fan as well as a Chicago Cub Fan. Beside his love of family, sports came in a close second. You could always count on Ben to "Sub" anytime whether it be baseball of bowling.
