Sheila Ann Harms, 85, of Kenosha, passed away Friday, March 6th, 2009, at Brookside Care Center. Born at the old St. Catherine’s Hospital in Kenosha on April 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Thora (Mikkelson) Smith. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools and graduated from Kenosha High School in 1941. On June 9, 1946, she married Howard Harms in Somers. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1987. Sheila started work at the age of 17 at Woolworths. She then worked at Hermosa Hosiery Store in Kenosha, Simmons Co. as a secretary for over 20 years, Montgomery Wards, Esta Sales dealing in antiques, at Memory Lane Antiques Estate Sales and also as a cook for Peppers Restaurant. She was a member of Somers Community United Church of Christ and AARP. Surviving are her sister, Ione Kreamer of Kenosha; a nephew and niece, James and Sharon Smith of Kenosha; a great niece, Jennifer Smith (Thomas) Miller of Kenosha; a great nephew, Michael (Christine Chambers) Smith of Kenosha; two great-great nieces, Hannah and Haiely Miller; and two great-great nephews, Dylan and Ian Smith. She was preceded in death by a brother, Merlyn Smith; a brother, Lyle Smith in infancy; and a sister, Lorna Miller. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10th, at Somers Community United Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
