Dominick William Iorio
Dominick W. Iorio, of Kenosha, passed away Monday, March 2nd, 2009, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. He was 89 years old. He was born May 19, 1919, in Kenosha, the son of the late Leo and Viola (Unti) Iorio, and was a lifelong resident of Kenosha, educated in local schools. Before entering the U.S. Military, he served with the Civil Conservation Corp, planting trees in Northern Wisconsin. He then served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1942 until 1944. On May 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Ann Parola. He was employed by American Motors as a Special Checker and retired after 30 years of dedicated service. A member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Moose Lodge #286, he served on the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, AARP, and UAW Local #72. He was very active in Band Boosters. Dominick was very active in Baseball in his younger years. He was known for his special saying "When the sun comes out, it’s a day closer to spring, when the Cub’s will start their season." He is survived by his wife, Ann, of 61 years; three children, Patricia (Walter) Vincent of Gurnee, IL, Thomas (Joan) Iorio of Kenosha and John Iorio, Sr. of Kenosha; a brother, Roger (Diane) Iorio of Kenosha; two sisters, Elizabeth Zapencki of Kenosha and Rosemarie (Zennon) Zuchowski of Kenosha; six grandchildren, Beth, Steven, Matthew, Tina, John Jr. and Katherine; and seven great-grandchildren, Jason, James, Lucas, Jonas, Mica, Dana and Wyatt. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at United Hospital for Dominick’s care, especially Dr. Bloom and Dr. Abbo. Also thank you and praise to the Visiting Nurses, Sue King, Tony Robalard, and Linda Callewalt. Without them, we couldn’t have kept Dom home all these years. Special thanks to Fr. Donald of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel for coming out on a very rainy night to come, sit, and pray with the family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, March 4th, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Lady of Mt. I am very sorry to hear about grandpa's passing. He was a very well liked man and a wonderful person. A person like Dom is someone you will never forget. He treated me like his own grandchild and was always smiling when I seen him. Again very sorry to hear this happen. He looks over all he loves now and smiles.
