Cyrille J. Szarafinski, 92, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009, at Sheridan Medical Complex. Born in Kenosha on November 15, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John and Bernice (Kisielewski) Zukowski. She was educated at St. Casimir Grade School, Washington Jr. High School, and graduated from Kenosha High School. In 1980, after her husband’s retirement, she moved to New Port Richey, FL, and in 1997 returned back to Kenosha. She served in the United States Navy, as a Yeoman 2nd Class, from May 17, 1943, until December 8, 1945, receiving the American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. On September 28, 1946, Cyrille married Carl Szarafinski at St. Casimir Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2006. Before entering the service, Cyrille worked as a secretary for Cooper’s and Nash Kelvinator Company. Previously a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, upon returning to Kenosha from Florida, she became a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She had previously been a member of the Christian Women’s Organization at St. Mark’s and was actively involved with her children’s teachers. Cyrille was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and her main focus was on raising her family. Surviving are her four children, Carla (Richard) Rohowetz of Dodgeville, WI, Charles Szarafinski of Kenosha, Cathleen (Joseph) Cappozzo of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Cynthia (Edward II) Lynk of Collinsville, IL; six grandchildren, Julie (Michael) Shore of Thorpe, WI, Andrea (Sean) Daleiden of Oswego, IL, Stephanie Cappozzo of Windermere, FL, Michael Cappozzo of Menomonee Falls, WI, and Edward & Betsy Lynk of Collinsville, IL; and three great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jenna and Natalie Shore of Thorp, WI. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Constance Szarafinski; three sisters, Bernice Raiman, Mary Hawes, and Wanda Naef; and a brother, John Zukowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 16th, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be private. Visitation will be held on Monday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
