Arnold J. Winters, 81, formerly of Kenosha, late of Racine, passed away on Saturday, January 17th, 2009, at his residence. Born on February 3, 1927, in Berlin, ND, he was the son of the late George and Anna (Valenta) Winters. He attended country schools in Nortonville, ND, and also received a degree from the North Dakota State School of Science. He moved to Kenosha in 1956 and later to Racine in 1993. He served in the US Navy during World War II and was later called back to serve during the Korean Conflict. On June 27, 1948, he married Veta L. Scott at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, ND. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2003. Arnold was employed as a printer with the Kenosha News from 1956 until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Kenosha and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1865. He enjoyed square dancing, was an all around handy man, enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers, and most importantly, spending time with his family. Survivors include his four children, Cheri (Craig) Dyke of Racine, WI, Gregory (Carol) Winters of Vernon, WI, Jan (John) Keprios of Eagan, MN, and Jeffrey (Lori) Winters of Kenosha; a sister, Lorraine Crocker of Roseburg, OR; and his five grandchildren, Kyle Keprios, and Bryan, Andrew, Jordan, and Noah Winters. He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Friday at Proko Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
