Vojislav Petkovic, 89, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5th, 2009, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Cocane, Serbia, on November 5, 1919, he was the son of the late Dimitrie and Kristina Petkovic. He received his education in the schools of Serbia, coming to Kenosha in 1951 to make his home. He was in the Yugoslavian Army during World War II and was attached to the United States Army for four years following the war. On August 28, 1948, he married Frieda Argstatter in Rosenhiem, Germany. He had been employed by Arneson Foundry until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of St. Lazar New Graciana Serbian Orthodox Church in Third Lake, IL, enjoyed working around the house, gardening, and wheeling and dealing at flea markets. Surviving are his wife, Frieda of Kenosha; two sons, James (Lori) and Alex (Cindy) Petkovic, both of Kenosha; his four grandchildren, Scott (Belinda), Matthew (Elissa), and Brandon Petkovic and Jordana (Todd) Wolf; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Radislav Petkovic of Serbia. He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 8th, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private at Green Ridge Cemetery. Dear Freda, Alex, and Jim,I will alway remember how papa would always welcome me into your home with "bobby, how are you today?" and a warm smile.In my later teenage years, when I worked at the foundry, hewould come up to me as the shifts changed and say with a big smile "aahhhh, your a good boy."
