Betty J. Surber, 80, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 20th, 2008, at St. Joseph Home for the Aged with her family by her side. Born on January 28, 1928, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Joseph L. and Ina P. (Littrell) Ludwig. Educated in local schools, Betty was a graduate of Mary D. Bradford High School. On August 2, 1952, Betty married John S. "Stan" Surber, Jr. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Betty was a homemaker, having the arduous task of raising five boys. She was a wonderful mother. Among her most important interest was being member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church until its closing. Betty was also a volunteer for Hospice and found time to become a member of the Southport Quilters Guild, Kenosha Garden Club, and the Catholic Women’s Club. She is survived by her five sons, Jeff A. Surber of Pleasant Prairie, David M. (Julie) Surber of Waukesha, John F. (Patricia) Surber of Janesville, Adam C. (Margaret) Surber of Mesa, AZ, and Stephen J. Surber of Kenosha; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John S. "Stan" Surber, Jr., and a brother, Robert Ludwig. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29th, at Proko Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Mass will be at St. Therese Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
