William O. Lehman, 81, of Kenosha, passed away Friday, December 19th, 2008, at Kenosha Medical Center. Born on April 27, 1927, in Kenosha, he was the son of the late Christopher and Jenny (Kastman) Lehman. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, he was educated in local schools. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army on October 10, 1945, and was honorably discharged on January 29, 1946. He served as a medical technician and received the WWII Victory Medal. On December 20, 1975, he married Sharon Bell at St. Mary’s Lutheran Church. Bill was instrumental in the design and was part owner of Washington Manor where he served as administrator. He later was employed as the administrator of Hospitality Manor before working as a consultant for the Care Corporation. Bill has given a lifetime of service to the welfare of seniors in Kenosha County. He gathered together a group of interested persons from various community agencies to discuss ways to work together to end the problem of elder abuse in Kenosha County. He served on a number of boards including SAC, Commission on Aging Kenosha County LTC Council and the LTC Work Force Alliance. Bill has also served for many years as a volunteer guardian of vulnerable adults. Survivors include his wife of nearly 33 years, Sharon of Kenosha; three sons, William L. (Debbie) and Mike, both of Kenosha, and Bill (Julie Vatovetz) Bell of Sheboygan, WI; five daughters, Margaret Yonnes of Kenosha, Debbie (Steve) Mikkila of Pleasant Prairie, Tammy Gray of Kenosha, Robin Bell of Kenosha, and Linda (Jerry) Zoucha of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Doris Jessen of Kenosha; three nephews, Rick (Jan) Jessen of Kenosha, and Bobby Jessen and David (Alex) Jessen, both of California; two nieces, Debbie (Dave) Cook of Winthrop Harbor, IL, and Lisa Jessen of California; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and special friends, Sandra and Dan Kegg of Gurnee, IL. He was preceded in death by a son, Chris; a daughter, Eileen; a sister, Virginia Mortenson; and his step father, Herbie Glitz. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 22nd, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Green Ridge Cemetery with full military honors.
