Barbara L. (Hurley) Adams, 87, of Kenosha, died Tuesday, December 9th, 2008, at St. Catherine’s Medical Center surrounded by her family. Born in Racine on March 3, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Harriett (McCormack) Hurley. She attended local schools in Racine and graduated from St. Catherine’s High School and Moore’s Business College. She married Herbert R. Adams on June 19, 1948, at St. Rose’s Catholic Church in Racine. He died on September 29, 2003. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was employed at JI Case Engineering Department as an administrative secretary prior to getting married. She enjoyed quilting and was a member of the Southport Quilters Guild for several years. She enjoyed the special companionship of Benji, lovingly referred to as her grand dog. Surviving are her children, a son, Robert (Lorilee) of Kenosha; a daughter, Susan Adams of Chicago; two grandchildren, Bryan and Kathryn Adams; a sister, Grace Kimpel of Racine; and nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband; brothers, Robert and James; and a sister, Harriet Hurley. Memorials to the Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph at Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Safe Harbor Humane Society would be appreciated by the family. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the physicians, administration and staff of United Hospital System and a very special thank you to the ICU staff at St. Catherine’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
