Alice J. Gilliam, 88, formerly of Kenosha, late of New London, WI, passed away Tuesday, December 9th, 2008, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in New London. Born on May 12, 1920, in Hamilton, MS, she was the daughter of the late Rue and Sarah White. She received her education in the schools of Hamilton, MS, and moved to Kenosha in 1952 to make her home. On April 10, 1937, she married James N. Gilliam in Hamilton, MS. He preceded her in death. Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling. Surviving are her children, Mary Sosbe of Port Edwards, WI, Sheila Kortes of Racine, WI, Wanda (Joe) Mills and Debbie Gilliam, both of Coon Rapids, MN, Bob (Bonnie) Gilliam of Kingsman, AZ, Jim Gilliam of Meeker, OK, Ed (Alice) Gilliam of Newbury Park, CA, Billy Joe (Nora) Gilliam of New Hall, CA, David (Donna) Gilliam of New London, WI, Donald (Grace) Gilliam of Crivitz, WI, and Lee (Charlotte) Gilliam of Kenosha, WI; twin brothers, A & G White; two sisters, Dixie Nicholes and Bonnie Love; twenty-four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucy, Margie and Goldie; a brother, Jamie; and a granddaughter, Jackie. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 12th, at Proko Funeral Home at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park.
