Leona (Barber) Hudson, 97, of Kenosha, entered eternal life on Wednesday, October 29th, 2008, at Rockwood Retirement Community in Spokane, WA. She was a resident of St. Joseph’s Home for the Aged for many years before moving to Rockwood Retirement Community in Spokane, WA. Born in Kenosha on August 8, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lola Barber. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School and graduated from Kenosha High School and Kenosha College of Commerce. On September 5, 1933, she married Martin Hudson at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He passed away September 13, 2002. They lived in both Kenosha and Waukegan. She worked for A.F. Stahl Real Estate and the Cooper Co. before her marriage. Leona traveled in the southern and western part of the United States. She enjoyed growing tomatoes, roses, playing bridge and walking her little dog. In the months before her death, she enjoyed the beautiful flower gardens and musical programs at Rockwood. During one of these musicals, a well known pianist, Margie May Ott, played the song, "Ramona", a song that Marty often sang to her, changing the title to "Leona". Leona is survived by two daughters, Nancy Roe of Spokane, WA, and Jeanne Hannes of Madison, WI; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Her family is grateful to both St. Joseph Home for the Aged and Rockwood Retirement community for the excellent care given to their mother and grandmother.
