Oscar Gene Brothen
Oscar G. Brothen, 78, of Kenosha, passed away on Tuesday, October 14th, 2008, at Alterra Clare Bridge in Kenosha. Born in Stanley, WI, on June 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Dora (Lund) Brothen. He received his education in the schools of Stanley, coming to Kenosha in 1951. He served in the United States Army from June 22, 1951, until May 19, 1953. On October 22, 1955, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church he married his wife of almost 53 years, Delores C. "Dee" Verbonse. He worked at Anaconda American Brass Co., for 33 years, retiring as Superintendent of the Tube Mill on January 27, 1987. Surviving are his wife, Delores of Kenosha; three children, Robert (Ann) Brothen of Kenosha, James (Diane) Brothen of West Bend, and Linda Brothen of Mount Pleasant, along with seven grandchildren; a brother, Murray (Eva) Brothen of Adams Friendship; and two sisters, Betty Schlater and Donna Taleronik, both of Kenosha. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Orville, and two other brothers, Edgar and John. The family would like to thank Hospice Alliance and the Clare Bridge staff for their care of Oscar the last two months. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 17th, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. James Cemetery with full military honors.
