Pershing "Yogi" Frechette, 72, of Kenosha, passed away on Friday, July 25th, 2008, at Kenosha Hospital & Medical Center. He was born November 30, 1935, on the Menominee Indian Reservation in Neopit, WI, the son of the late Aloysious and Delores Frechette. Pershing joined U.S. Army on April 6, 1954 and was honorably discharged on March 18, 1957. Returning to Neopit after the service, he met his future wife, Dorothy L. Soman. They were united in marriage on February 27, 1960. He moved to Kenosha where he was employed at American Motors on the engine line before becoming a foreman. After retiring from Chrysler, he spent many hours volunteering in various homeless shelters where he enjoyed helping others in need. He also worked part time driving medical vans for the elderly. Yogi enjoyed the time he spent participating in city league softball and basketball where he developed life long friendships over many years. He also enjoyed going to casinos, was an avid Packer fan and especially enjoyed spending time watching his grandchildren in their many sports and school functions. Pershing was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The memory of his life and many accomplishments will live on with his loving wife, Dorothy of Kenosha; sons, Patrick (Janine) of Kenosha and Michael of Antioch, IL; daughter, Mindy (Jeff) Thomas of Kenosha; and four granddaughters, Taylor, Elliott, Cassandra and Alexa. A special thanks from the family to the CCU staff at Kenosha Medical Center for their care in comforting of our beloved father and husband during our stay. Also a very special thank you to Dr. Harley Sobin for his care, compassion, and bedside manner. The family would like to also thank everyone who shared their prayers and thoughts with us. In accordance with Yogi’s wishes, he will return to his native land and waters where there will be a private memorial with his family.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Pershing’s Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

I am so sorry about Pershing. He was such a dear man and cousin. I always looked forward to seeing his smiling face at the casino when he was in town. I was telling my Mom that when I was younger I thought that he was a part of the funeral staff! you see he was always so dignified and well dressed that it wasn't until my late teens that I realized he was my cousin AND Aunt Babe and Uncle Al's son, and it was the only time I ever saw him. Like I said, he was a fine man and human being, and I was proud to have him as part of my family. I am glad that he not hurting anymore, but I will miss him greatly.

Dorothy, Patrick and Mindy, So sorry to hear about the death of your husband and father. We wished we could have assisted in any way in the past few weeks. We have always looked upon Yogi, Dorothy and your family with the greatest of love, for all the times that we had living next to you in our early years, your assistance in caring for our children, and then all the work that Yogi did with the Inns Program at St. Mary's. Invaluable service to the people of Kenosha in many more ways than I knew he had done. How wonderful! We will miss him at St. Mary's. Wished he could have continued for many more years. You are a family to us, that we will never forget in our memories. Always wonderful to see Mindy, walking or running, some where in our neighborhood, too.Gail and Deacon Ron Lesjak
