Dear Katie's family, I knew Katie only as her science teacher. In this short span of time, I saw her as a person who was self-confident, very comfortable with herself, and a young lady with a quiet sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

Thinking of you and missing the very thought of what you were in the process of becoming. xo

Dear Kim, Seth, Lauren, Andrew & Marilyn,Katie was a stellar child, there was no question she was turning into a magnificent woman... words seem so hollow now, please let that huge love that has always filled your house, made each of the kid's smiles so bright, let that wrap around and comfort you during these daysLove Shirah

Katie was a great girl. When I saw her in school, the only expression she would show was happiness. I will always remember Katie as the girl who would always smile and talk to you about anything. She was a great student, soccer player, runner, and friend.A Thousand Winds-UnknownDo not stand at my grave and weep;I am not there, I do not sleep.I am a thousand winds that blow.I am the diamond glints on snow.I am the sunlight on ripened grain.I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush,I am the swift uplifting rush.Of quiet birds in circled flight.I am the soft stars that shine at night.Do not stand at my grave and cry;I am not there, I did not die.

Our thoughts and sympathy are with you in this most painful time. Katie was a light in the world - she brightened up our daughter's life as well as ours whenever she visited us. Her memorial service was beautiful and captured the essence of who this wonderful child was. We hope and pray that you can find some comfort in knowing that so many people loved Katie.

There are no words that can be spoken to take away the pain and sorrow that you and your family are feeling. I can't even begin to understand, however there are many people who know and love your family deeply. I know my son Kyle who is very good friends with Marilyn and Katie is heartbroken over the loss of his friend and for the fact that Marilyn has to endure such pain for the loss of her big sister. Our hearts, thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to you and your family.

Please accept our sincere sympathies at the loss of your daughter. We feel your pain - we lost our daughter to ovarian cancer five years ago when she was only 24 years old. Katie surely had a zest for life, and we hope that your memories of her will comfort you as days and years go by.

I never had the chance to meet this lovely young lady, but I too lost my daughter to a drunk driver at the age of 16. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Some parents find a group called Compassionate Friends(a group for parents who have lost children)to be very beneficial. May God bless you.
