Merle Frank VARVIL, JR.

Merle F. Varvil, Jr., 72, of Kenosha, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 12th, 2008. Born in Waukegan, IL, on April 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Merle F. and Mary (Shamorian) Varvil, Sr. He graduated from Drake University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. In 1972 he came to Kenosha to make his home. He served in the United States Army from October of 1958 until April of 1959. He was an Industrial Engineer for Johns-Manville in Waukegan. On August 17, 1972, he married Judith Lemke in Waukegan, IL. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2004. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Merle enjoyed jig-saw puzzles, sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers, playing cards and a good game of Cribbage. Surviving is his son, Mark (LeAnn) Varvil of Kenosha. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 15th, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 12:00 noon. Entombment to follow at Good Shepherd Mausoleum with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Good Shepherd Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
