Frank Misurelli, 90, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6th, 2008, at Kenosha Medical Center. Born on February 27, 1918, in Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Turco) Misurelli. He served as a staff sergeant with the 30th Infantry Division during World War II from 1941-1945. He participated in seven major battles throughout Italy, Africa, France and Germany earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star. On July 14, 1945, he married Angeline Volpentesta at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. They had two daughters. Together they owned and operated Misurelli's Food Shop from 1950-1960. Later he trained as a machine operator and retired from J.I. Case in 1983. He was known for his gardening and cooking abilities. Each year friends and family gathered to harvest grapes in his backyard vineyard and looked forward to his homemade wine. Frank's passion for nature and respect for the environment inspired all of us to carry on his teachings and traditions. He is survived by his wife, Angeline Misurelli; his daughters, Joan (Bill) Weber of Kenosha, and Lisa Misurelli (Ernst) Kuhn of Peoria, AZ; his three grandchildren, Ray (Laura) Stukel of Oak Park, IL, Dave (Reka) Sundaram-Stukel of Madison, WI, and Michelle (Michael) Leitch of Pleasant Prairie, WI; and his four great-grandchildren, Amaan, Nisha, Kate and Mark Stukel. He is also survived by one brother, Eugene (Mary) Misurelli, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were three sisters, Clara Vignieri, Julia Savaglio, and Mary Jane Arndt, and a brother, Tony Misurelli. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9th, at Proko Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Family and friends are asked to meet at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, March 10th, at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at All Saints Mausoleum.Proko Funeral Home & Crematory5111-60th StreetKenosha, WI 53144Phone: (262) 654-3533Visit Frank's Online Memorial Book at:www.prokofuneralhome.com

My father just told me of Mr. Misurelli's passing and I wish my condolences to Mrs. Misurelli, Joan, Ray, Dave, Michelle and their families. I met Mr. Misurelli on only a couple occasions during high school, and he made me feel right at home. I am an old friend of Dave's from Washington and Bradford and have always loved your family. I will keep you all in my prayers during this difficult time. God Bless you all.

Dear Joan,Jerry and I check the Kenosha News on a regular basis. So sorry to see that your Dad has passed away. It is never easy to loose a parent, especially the kind of parents that you have had. Jerry's Mom was the last one to leave, but for me, my Mom was the hardest to loose. You may have lost track of us, but Jerry and I have been retired for the past 4 years and are in N. Ft. Myers, FL. We love it down here, weather, lifestyle, golf, etc. Our son, and his fiance are still in Michigan, and we have family and best friends still in Kenosha. Was surprised to see that is where you are at, now, but maybe not so surprised to think that you were there to take care of family. All our parents have been gone for a while, and that's why we are able to be down here. We usually get back up North in the summer sometime. If you would like to reconnect, my email is pegkfla@embarqmail.com. My deepest sympathy to you an your family on the loss of your father and grandfaher.Love, Peg K.
