George L. Struckmeier, 85, of Kenosha, passed away on Thursday, November 1st, 2007, at Hospitality Manor Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Chicago, IL, on October 23, 1922, he was the son of the late William and Eleanor (Fiebig) Struckmeier. He received his education in the schools of Chicago. He came to Kenosha in 1995 to make his home. On April 14, 1945, he married Ursula Kahl in Chicago. She preceded him in death. He worked at Illinois Bell in Administration, retiring in 1980. George was a former member of St. Mary's Lutheran Church, St. Mary's Choir, and the Illinois Bell Pioneers. For 27 years he was a Deacon for Nebo Lutheran Church in Chicago. George was a good artist, enjoyed traveling, and was a great history buff. He liked spending time watching old movies. He is survived by two daughters, Marguerite E. (Jim) Wennerholm and Janet I. Briseno, both of Kenosha; a brother, Richard Struckmeier of St. Petersburg, FL; three grandchildren, Eric Wennerholm, Jason (Trina) Wennerholm, and John J. Briseno; and a great-grandson, John M. Briseno. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 4th, at Proko Funeral Home at 5:00 pm. Internment will be held on Monday, November 5th, at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held on Sunday at Proko Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until the time of the services. I remember George from him sitting at our table at the Manor, and it took a lot for us to understand him, but we worked it out! I told him to keep trying, and somehow it helped. I remember the difficulty--and I remember how it lifted. May God bless all of you! Carla
