Rachel Adeline JOHNSON
Rachel Edquist Johnson, 82, of Kenosha died Sunday, October 28th, 2007 in Surprise, AZ, after a second bout with pancreatic cancer. Rachel survived an unprecedented 6 years after pancreatic surgery only to contract it again in 2007. She underwent new investigation drug therapy that destroyed the cancer but she was unable to come back from the side effects. Rachel was born in Kenosha on March 16, 1925, to the late Teresa (Pellegrino) and Filippo Spizzirri. She attended local schools and lived most of her life in Kenosha. She moved to Surprise, AZ, in 2006 to enjoy her remaining years in the sun. Rachel worked at Nash Motors and was a chef at the Casino Town House in Kenosha. On June 29, 1946, Rachel was married to Reinhold "Jack" Edquist at Holy Rosary Church. Jack passed away in 1973. She later married Don Johnson and enjoyed ten years with him, until his death in 1989. Rachel's favorite patron saint was St. Jude and she regularly contributed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Rachel is survived by her children, Linda (George) Sezemsky of Crystal Lake, IL, Ruthanne (Jim) Haubrich of Surprise, AZ, and Ronald Edquist of Kenosha. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jean Marie Mogensen, John and Jim Sezemsky, Michael and Nicholas Haubrich, and Jack and Samatha Edquist; three great-grandchildren, Sydni Haubrich, Will Sezemsky, and Grace Sezemsky; and dear friend, Sue Edquist. Rachel was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Paps. A private service will be held for family members and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Rachel at Tenuta's Restaurant back in the late 70's and early 80's. I could never get enough of her Bacala or mouth watering meatballs. Try as I may, I could never duplicate her cooking. We had many good times working together and I have thought about Rachel often since then. I was happy to have met up with her and RuthAnne again a couple years back. What a great lady! I'm happy to have had the pleasure of knowing Rachel. God Bless! Jeani

RuthAnn and family,I was sorry to read about the recent passing of your mother. Having gone thru this with my parents I know you will have some trying moments ahead of you. I'm sure your loving family provide the support that will get you thru this. You are missed in Kenosha. So many times I drive past the store where you worked, but just don't stop anymore. I'm busy with working in Chicago, still commuting and then look forward to weekends when I can share time with my now 3 lovely grandchildren, Christina, Elizabeth and Robert. My thoughts are prayers are with you and your family. God Bless. Terri Slay (Dorff)
