Virginia M. DeKok, 89, of Kenosha, passed away Saturday, October 13th, 2007, at United Hospital System-Kenosha Campus. Born on March 9, 1918, in Kenosha, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Jennie (Walraven) Backe. A lifelong resident of Kenosha, she was educated in local schools. On July 13, 1940, she marred LeRoy J. DeKok at Baptist Tabernacle in Kenosha. He passed away July 26, 2003. She was a member of Christian Reformed Church. Virginia was very proud of being a homemaker, enjoyed reading her daily newspaper, and looked forward to spending her summer vacations in Minocqua, WI, as well as her winter trips to Florida. Surviving are two sons, Gary L. (Sally) DeKok of Kenosha and Ronald J. DeKok of Basco, WI; two granddaughters, Carolyn DeKok and Jennifer (John Jr.) Steinbrink; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Brian Steinbrink. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 18th, at Proko Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Proko Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the time of services.
