Helen SHAMPINE
Helen N. (Lovell) Shampine, 85, of Pleasant Prairie, fell asleep in death, Tuesday, July 31st, 2007, at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born, April 22, 1922, in Terra Haute, IN, she was a daughter of the late Gail V. and Carrie (Greggs) Lovell. She was educated and graduated from the local schools of Terra Haute and Chicago. Helen moved to Chicago in 1940, then met and married her husband, the late William Shampine, Jr., on December 17, 1942. They then moved to Kenosha in 1954, where she has resided ever since. Helen retired in 1977, as a supervisor, from Arthur Steadary, Lake Bluff, IL, where she had worked for 20 years. She was a member of the Kenosha Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses since 1969. Helen was a talented artist, musician, and lover of animals. She was also a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs. Surviving are her two children, Ward (Frances) Shampine and Naoma Shampine, both of Pleasant Prairie; a sister, Wilmajeanne (Konrad) Funken of Eugene, OR; five grandchildren, Darryl, Maureen, Mike, Beth, and Richard; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Robert Lovell. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
