i have a feeling of painful loss, as a patient and a nurse working at st cath hospital for 20 years. dr stevens and his wonderful staff ALWAYS returned my calls, calmed me and my family at the hospital when i had a seizure and helped me and my family deal with my epilepsy for over 20 years. as my husband said we have lost a doctor, we have lost a friend, he also said i hope we can find a neurologist with half dr stevens compassion i will miss you, i will miss your caring, i will miss your dry sense of humor and most of all your basic caring. janice johnson

I am deeply saddened to hear the news about the sudden death of Dr. Stevens. My thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time. I am in a state of shock. When I saw him on May 23rd, I never imagined that would be the last time. It was very hard for me to learn of his illness. Many prayers were sent his way.Dr. Stevens was a extremely intelligent and compassionate neurologist. I was luckly enough to experience his care for the last 7 years and considered him part of my family. He has set a very high bar for any future neurologist that I will see.He was a man who cared very deeply for his patients and today this is an extremely rare find. I will always respect him for not falling into the trap of the large pharmaceutical companies or the corporate businesses that now have become our hospitals. I was always impressed by his continued knowledge of his field. I will never forget the words of advice he gave me the day he diagnosed me with MS. He said, " Lisa live your life like you do not have MS." In honor of him I will continue to live by this advice.I know that he will be missed by all his patients, friends, family and also by Fran and Geri. During this difficult time we will draw upon our own strengths and I am certain that even now as Dr. Stevens is in heaven looking down he will provide us the strength we need to get through his loss. His family, Fran and Geri have my deepest sympathy.Lisa Capodarco
