Glen Morris SMITH
Glen Morris Smith, 74, of Kenosha, passed away Tuesday, June 12th, 2007, at St. Catherine's Medical Center. Born in Waukegan, IL, on March 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Bernard and Ardel (Bain) Smith. He held an Associates Degree in Fluid Power from Gateway Technical College. He entered the United States Army in 1950 and served for 21 years, retiring from active duty in 1971. On April 29, 1977, he married Shirley Koslica. She preceded him in death on December 9, 2004. He was a professional minor league baseball umpire in 1971. He and his wife were proud to have been foster parents for over 26 years, coached youth bowlers and enjoyed bowling, golfing, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He really enjoyed spending time with his family. Before retirement, he was employed by San Diego Community College teaching Gunner's Mate School to Navy recruits at Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago, IL. He is survived by his children, Patti Ambrose, Melissa (Thomas) Stein, Irene (Garrie) Cummings, and Melody (David) Rose, all of Kenosha, Carmela Lutz of San Diego, CA, and Brian (Jane) Resudek of Racine; five brothers, Eugene (Barbara) Smith, LoRell Smith, and Robert (Barbara) Weedman, all of Illinois, Benjamin (Vi) Smith of Washington and Wally Smith of Florida; his two sisters, Marion (Al) Ester of Illinois and Mary Louise Boyer of Florida; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Bernard, Frank, Stan, Leon, and Donald and Ralph in infancy; and two sisters, Bernadine Endicott and Lorraine Strunk. Funeral services will be held at Proko Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14th, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Proko Funeral Home from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Brian: Pops was one of the greatest men I have ever known. I will miss watching the Bears and Cubs with him. I am grateful I got to see him before he passed. You ALL are my second family.
