Russell E. Cassity, 54, of Kenosha, passed away Friday, February 23rd, 2007, at Woodstock Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Kenosha on July 24, 1952, he was the son of the late Warren and Anna (Roloff) Cassity. He was a lifelong resident of Kenosha and was educated in local schools. He was in the United States Army from July 27, 1970, until his honorable discharge on July 18, 1973. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He was married to Shirley Mosberger. He attended the first Congregational Church, he acted as B.O.L.D. Guide Leader, and thru the Lions Club he was very active with Blind Blowing Leagues in Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha. His passion was working the homeless. That man loved to shop and play with kids and he loved guide dogs. Surviving are his wife; two sons, John and Thomas Cassity; a stepdaughter, Vanessa Cox of Moline, IL; a sister, Nora Cassity; four brothers, Kenny, Jeff, Gerald, Ray Cassity; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, David. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 27th, at York Cemetery in York Township, IL, at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be held on Tuesday at Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel in West Union, IL, from 1:00 pm until the time of the services.
