Chester J. Richie, 82, of Kenosha, passed away Monday, February 19th, 2007, at Washington Manor Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Hudson, WI, on October 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Angeline (Schullo) Richie. He came to Kenosha in 1942, to make his home. On April 1, 1943, during World War II, he entered the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on January 3, 1946. He was stationed in Europe, receiving the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Overseas Service Bars, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. On November 22, 1947, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, he married Mary DiCello. She passed away February 10, 1995. He was employed by American Motors/Chrysler Motors in the Engine Inspection Dept. for 38 years, retiring in 1986. A member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church and a former member of UAW Local 72, Chester enjoyed working in the garden, woodworking, cooking and spending time with his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Angela (Tony) Covelli and Nikki (Ken) Campagna, both of Kenosha; three grandchildren, Lisa Covelli, Michelle Gust and Ryan Campagna; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Nathan Gust; two step grandchildren, Paul and Brian Campagna; and four step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and good friend, Michael DiCello. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Adeline Palmer, Agnes Messersmith, and Lucy Houston; and two brothers, Jim and Henry Richie. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22nd, from Proko Funeral Home at 9:30 am. Mass to be celebrated on Thursday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. George Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Proko Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
